He says, “Latte, chocolate strawberry cheesecake dessert at Cheesecake Etc.”
That’s one of my favourite concoctions at Cheesecake Etc., the chocolate cheesecake with strawberry topping! NPY’s work area is a fabulous place for after work meals.

Although I don’t drink beer–half a pint makes me feel sick and I drink it so slowly it warms up–I was honoured to receive and accepted the invitation to participate in J2′s 3rd annual beerfest held at J2′s home. They had carefully selected 40 beers from around the world for us to …

For some inane, inexplicable reason, I have chosen First Markham Place (FMP) as “the plaza where we will try everything”. It’s not the plaza next door (Times Square) but not too far further. So far, we have been to Mei Nung Beef Noodle for Taiwanese noodles and two other restaurants at FMP. It would take a while considering there are at least 20 restaurants to try. …

He says, “Yummy omega 3 transformers gummies. The family finished the entire bottle in a few days.”
Boys and their Transformers!

I collect pins so this is my latest addition… not! Hmmm, why would I order a Star Trek comm badge in October…?
This is the Science division’s comm badge like what Spock wore as opposed to the Engineering one that I was “supposed” to buy. Got it off eBay which I don’t use nearly enough to explore the variety and deals.

Wow, Day Fifty. That’s ten times longer than wyn’s longest trips to Toronto. How are we holding up??
Hers:
After Eight-flavoured Nestle hot chocolate after 8 p.m. when we just vegetate on the couch with our laptops and watch the endless fall line-up of prime-time programming. We are 100% up-to-speed in watching Gossip Girl, Being Erica, How I Met Your Mother, Hawaii Five-O, 90210, Ringer, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Big Bang Theory, The Amazing Race, Desperate Housewives, and Pan Am! If I’ve been downtown …

He says, “Finally got my drivers licence renewed today and got Swiss chalet as an extra for dinner.”
Good thing about renewing his license–it has been expired for a couple weeks!
Yum, Swiss Chalet. NPY used to disparage Swiss Chalet as an adequate meal. I agree it’s as if the quarter chicken dinners shrank or I just grew up in size so in that way, it’s not quite adequate.

Has NPY discovered a new favourite, Cafe Crepe, in his work neighbourhood? He was also there last Friday.

Vina and I were slowly walking on Yonge Street after an intense double-header of fitness classes and came across the Occupy Toronto/Bay Street crowd marching northward led by a truck blaring music and tailed by the media trucks. This shoddy iPhone image is in part due to low lighting, iPhone 3GS’ camera, and not wanting to attract attention or get …

He says, “My usual lemon poppyseed and latte.”
NPY visits an independent cafe near his work that he’s brought me to twice. Each time I go, I feel like I’m trespassing or something because they know him in his work context which I barely know and I feel like I’m visiting a slightly different world.

After about 40 hours in Michigan, we headed back home. The border crossings were the least fun from being stuck in the under-water tunnel between Detroit and Windsor to the overly curious border guard going into Detroit. Going into Washington, I am asked 100% of the time about having fruits and meat; not so this time. He asked everything from what we do for a …

NPY went to Peaceful, the original location that was recently featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners Vancouver. I’ve tried everything Mr. Fieri tried but my favorites have been refined to two others: the Shandong noodles which is a great “stew” over handmade noodles, and their fresh, Northern Chinese-style potato rolls!

I’m in Michigan for the weekend? Why not visited the 18th largest U.S. city that is just 4 hours’ drive away? We’re also visiting a former colleague of mine who moved to A2 (Ann Arbor).

NPY is a fan of American Idol and roped into watching countless seasons until I picked up my habit of nearly always putting a laptop between me and the television screen. When he replays an especially moving performance, I’ll pay attention though. One such performance was a couple of seasons ago, delivered by eventual winner Kris Allen, an acoustic, drawn-out rendition of the melancholic song, Ain’t No Sunshine. Although I have minimal auditory memory, I can remember the performance and it’s really nice that NPY …
