I liked the feel of Irashai's interior. I have read reviews where it's been called "sterile" or "confused" and either I'm not that picky or the aesthetics happened to suit me if not everyone. It has a feeling of luxury and felt really open with the warehouse ceiling - it just felt like a modern Asian restaurant for atmosphere-oriented patrons.

Just discovered your blog. A native Nova Scotian's take on Vancouver? That's a fresh perspective =D

Nice post. I echo shokutsu's feelings: it's interesting to (finally) read the opinion of someone that wasn't invited to Irashai for a free meal (we were). What did you think of the restaurant's atmosphere? I enjoyed the food, but thought the restaurant felt a little sterile and boring.

Interesting to come across a review of this place that didn't come with the offer of madhouse feeding frenzy. :)

Good that you picked up the meaning of welcome in Japanese - although the true alphabetic spelling should be "irasshai". Seems this restaurant is missing an "s" and nobody noticed or cared. :)
