“Nice coat!”
Whenever I go home, my most adorable and accomplished little sister, MY, regales me with the clothes that she has recently made (as a hobby, mind you) from A-line skirts in the prettiest fabrics you wouldn’t find without visiting tens of boutiques to pretty summer tops to a couple of semi-formal event-worthy dresses.
So far, I have loved most a black watch plaid capelet she made me. I have loved the idea of such a capelet since seeing one on Anne Shirley in Kevin Sullivan’s 1985 production of “Anne of Green Gables”.
That in itself is very interesting but in August, MY’s abilities reached another level: she surprised me with a deep purple plaid perfectly tailored trench coat! Sorry, capelet, the coat is now my favourite MY-tailored item. =D
I love how the coat instantly dresses up what I’m wearing and how it is impossible to pinpoint the year or brand. I love when people gasp and comment graciously about the coat and I can reveal that my sister made it.

That’s a gorgeous coat! Your sister has some serious talent.
it’s lovely! great picture too.
I love coats!!! And that is a great coat! I have to agree with above commenter, the pic is fab, like something you’d see in a magazine.
Oh, I loved that look on Anne Shirley!! And it looks even cuter on you!
I know that I’m asking for comments and compliments. :) Your praise has been passed along to the maker (who wasn’t asking for it in any way).
